Shopping Lists:
I use Subscribe & Save for these things to make reordering easier and save 5-15%
The best coffee/espresso powder (for baking)
Beef sticks (also available at Target)
Instant potato flakes (no garlic: low Fodmap)
Laundry bar soap (not totally sold on the new formulation when they switched from being owned by Purel to being owned by Zout)
Zinc lozenges (peppermint)
Time-release melatonin (also available in 300mcg instead of 3mg)
Roasted sprouted pumpkin seeds
Other stuff:
Nice (overpriced) wooden spoon (I use it to stir things in my nonstick skillets)
Plastic clear lazy-Susan (I use one for spices & one for condiments to bring to the table)
Soft warm high/low automatic nightlight (that unfortunately blocks the entire outlet)
Silicone turner (the handle can melt, so I rest it on the handle of the frying pan)
Tide Ultra Stain Release Free for sensitive skin
[update: maybe they’ve discontinued this, so I’m trying Tide Ultra Oxi Free]
Lysol laundry sanitizer Free & Clear
Cascade platinum dishwasher actionpacs (dawn + oxiclean) update: tried the free and clear on wirecutter’s recommendation and it seems fine and maybe slightly better for the world, so I’m switching
Best All-Purpose cleaning spray (I otherwise use PineSol)
Dawn soap (for diluting and filling the foaming ones—note, you probably don’t need very much; I’ve been storing an extra bottle for 4+ years because I was miscalibrated)
Clear liquid softsoap (for refilling my foaming ones)
Men’s Dove soap (that smells nice)
The best deep conditioner (hair)
Q-tips (you shouldn’t go off-brand)
Kleenex slim pocket packs (better than the bricks for pockets and bags)
Listerine floss (thicker/more effective than Glide, but still doesn’t shred) Update: I am now obsessed with the much thicker Cocofloss (expensive but epic, and discussed further on the 🤔Advice: get an electric toothbrush page)
Softer version of the most septic-safe TP
Select-A-Size paper towels (though I also now want them to be even smaller because they’re so durable and absorbant, so I’m going to borrow my dad’s band saw to see if I can cleanly cut the rolls in half)
Snack size ziplocks (this is a great size, but the freezer ones are generally better for the multiple uses I tend to need, so I go straight from this size up to the quart size)
GF protein clif bars that are pretty much candy bars, but delicious! (and have fewer grains)
Oreo Thins (mint) (I don’t get them now that I’m not doing gluten and trying not to do sugar, but omg, they’re delish! The regular gf Oreos are quite good though.)
Better than Bouillon chicken broth base w/o onions or garlic (low Fodmap) I get the organic one from Walmart these days
Bob’s Red Mill 1-to-1 gf flour (hefty 44oz resealable size)
Alexandre A2 whole milk & ultrafiltered low fat milk & chocolate milk & yogurt (also available via Azure which has more variety)
Kerrygold aged cheddar (slices and sticks—whichever is on sale 😅)
Red miso (refrigerated tub)
Organic napa cabbage (for kimchi)
Organic daikon radish
Organic petite baby carrots
Organic green onions
Clusters of beets for pickling (I think golden aren’t as good but they’re way less stressful because they won’t turn everything they touch hot pink)
Organic fresh ginger (for stir fry and congee and kimchi and tea and sauces)
Organic mandarin oranges & satsumas
Cocojune coconut yogurt (plain or unsweetened vanilla — perfect keto treat)
Boulder Canyon avocado oil potato chips (handful of types—we currently like the thin ones)
Fody ketchup (onion and garlic free: low fodmap — also available via Thrive which usually has better pricing)
Red Boat fish sauce (smaller quantities are sometimes available at Walmart and now also at TJ’s)
Rice ramen (gf)
Roti beef bone broth (onion and garlic free: low fodmap)
The best lactose-free ice cream (I couldn’t find this recently, but their website claims it’s still carried here)
They do have gluten free cookies and cream ice cream from Strauss. And I’ve read that Oatly is the best non-dairy ice cream. (It’s surprising to me that they don’t generally lump dietary concerns together; e.g. if I were making an ice cream that was lactose free, I think I’d take that extra step to not include gluten (which doesn’t seem like an integral part of making a good ice cream).
GF breaded fish (sticks, cod, etc.)
Organic ground pork
Gusto Genoa salami
Teton grass fed polish sausage
Fork in the road Honest dogs - chunkier than normal hot dogs
(I keep it in my notes app and use it every time I go to make sure I’m not missing anything important — it’s arranged by the pattern that I walk through the store)
Cheese (though I now try to find cheese from happier animals)
Dried fruit and nuts
Tea & coffee
Misc in that aisle
Meat
Frozen foods
Treats
Breads & rice
Spices and sauces and oils

I use Thrive for more dietary specialty items (e.g. 🚫The best Gluten Free substitutes), but their prices are unbeatable and they have relatively frequent sales so I can stock up on rotation. One warning: their search function is quite bad, so if you don’t find something, maybe try a different term?
This referral link will give you 40% off your first purchase:
Pamela’s gf pancake mix
Pamela’s gf big fig bars

Schar gf table crackers (saltine replacement, but more buttery)
Schar gf chocolate honeygrams (a little grainy, but in a good way if you like British digestives)
Schar gf entertainment crackers (ritz replacements and busted up a bit, a great gluten free oyster cracker replacement in soup)
Snack packs of mild marinated artichokes (cheaper regular price at TJ’s)
Snack packs of shredded grass fed beef (for 🍛Congee (and related Chinese medicine/energetics)
Amy’s vegan butternut squash soup
Amy’s vegan mushroom bisque (you might be able to get the (more delicious) one with porcini at Walmart or Target for a similar price)
Eden foods mirin
Eden foods garbanzo beans
Eden foods sauerkraut (except you should make it at home 🤔Advice: Eat fermented foods)
Organic nuts
Their raw organic pecans are out of this world (but I wait for sales). We mostly just eat them straight out of the bag, but I also use them in 🥧Mini pecan pie bites (gf) and 🥞Pancakes with Pamela's gf flour & pecans or frozen (thawed) berries.
Spice refills
Seasonal:
Pamela’s gf graham crackers for holiday pie crusts (e.g. cheesecake)
The best instant whipped cream: Lucerne whipped heavy cream (orange-ish cap) — maybe discontinued?
The best string cheese: Lucerne low-moisture mozzarella
The best shelf-stable bone broths w/o onions or garlic: Imagine
Note: due to waste, we’ve switched to better than bouillon paste.
Morton lite salt (also at Walmart)
Frozen wild-caught salmon
Mt. Olive dill pickle relish (no onions or garlic)
Mt. Olive dill pickle chips (no onions or garlic)
Mt. Olive baby kosher dill pickles (no onions or garlic and so crispy!)
Mixed nuts in-shell (seasonal at Christmas?) 🐿️Nuts (still in their shells)
Organic mandarin oranges 🍊
They let you make a list on-site, so I did that for a friend who just moved into his own apartment
They sometimes have great prices, though I don’t know how stable they are. I’d check the following:
Amy’s Quinoa, Kale, & Red Lentil soup (6pk or 12pk)
Amy’s gf frozen mac & cheese
Mason jars
Ball grey plastic mason jar lids
Organic better than bouillon (chicken)
Kerrygold butter
Organic avocado oil (chosen foods)
Bacon crumbles (for faster fried rice with 🥬Fermented Kimchi: easy, healthy, delicious, also good in Amy’s frozen gf mac & cheese)
Cashew clusters
GF crackers (there are a couple different types, I stock up when they’re on sale)
Almond butter (larger than TJ’s—I only get this when I’m in 🍹Smoothies mode)
Hue lights (occasional good sales for bulbs or dimmers)
Nest thermostats (occasionally good deals for sets that include a secondary sensor)
Nest smoke detectors (occasionally good deals for sets of two)
🍬Jelly Bellies are the best mainstream candy (not good for you and it’s unclear why anyone would ever need so many, and if you’re going to gift them, I recommend a box where they’re separated out by flavor, but one of the most incredible candies ever created—Willy Wonka level)
Extra fancy mixed nuts (the salted ones are kinda too salty, so ideally you could mix the unsalted ones with the salted ones, but they’re also ok as-is). A lot of people are low In selenium, which should resolve with a Brazil nut a day.
Pecan halves (for making 🥧Mini pecan pie bites (gf) a regular thing and also for 🥞Pancakes with Pamela's gf flour & pecans or frozen (thawed) berries) — when the organic ones are on sale at Thrive, I nab them instead; they’re significantly more delicious.
Fizzy water in cans
Organic maple syrup
Kerrygold butter (Walmart and Trader Joe’s have competitive pricing)
Cocojune yogurt
Milton’s gluten free pizza
Organic bananas
Amy’s gluten free mac & cheese
Amy’s gluten free mac & cheese with kale or broccoli
Van’s gluten free blueberry frozen waffles
O’Dough’s gluten free bagel thins (often in the freezer section)
Eden foods sauerkraut (if on sale)
Mt. Olive baby kosher dills (no garlic)
Boxed wine (half bottles)
German gluten free rye breads, e.g. Mestemeister’s pumpernickel
Teton grass fed polish sausage
🚧 Things to add:
Warm wool socks for layering
Hydro flask items (especially good prices on lids)
☣️Double your accessible shelf space with a lazy susan
Loving their acacia outdoor furniture line:
Dish towels (that double as pot holders)
3oz travel containers
Ember smart mug (better deal at Costco if you’re ok with grey sage green)
Spin pins
Hair ties
Other stuff from the 🚺Women's Health & Wellness page
(My new favorite food producer—excellent job treating beans for reducing toxins, excellent Japanese products and sauerkraut. I’m very impressed.)
