If you don't know already, it it highly likely that your shower or sink drain is letting hair slip by. This probably means that somewhere nearby, there's a slimy hairball slowly growing. These drain covers (which come in two sizes) are classy and effective and made for the different drains in your house. I know there are other objects that purport to capture all the hair, but I haven't tried them because they seem...icky?
Because I have long hair, I have a decent chance of being able to collect it as I’m finger-combing my conditioner, but it’s stressful to make sure none of it accidentally gets washed down the drain. For short hair and pets, there’s really no chance for a regular drain to keep that mass out of the plumbing.
This is one of the most gifted things I leave after a stint housesitting or long-term airbnbing or otherwise occupying a guest bathroom that doesn’t get as much use or attention from the person who will ultimately have to deal with the plumbing.
(if I should switch, please do let me know though 🙃 — I've seen high ratings for things like "The TubShroom Ultra" but one selling point for them is keeping the hair out of sight and I’m a strong believer in removing the hair after every shower (again, maybe due to my hair being long) — the idea of it building up without me knowing seems pretty unappealing and in particular if I were sharing a shower I think the ick factor would be too high 😬.)
