Individually wrapped—good for stocking stuffers or to toss in a package you’re shipping. 🎁
Target is the most reliable place to find them, but they are seasonal and also popular enough to sell out, so they typically don’t ship; stock up when you find them. The packaging helps them last notably longer than other forms of chocolate treats.
CVS is also worth trying.
And Kroger if you’ve got one.
(Dove has a surprisingly good “Smooth” dark chocolate as well.)
I used to love the secret messages printed on the inside of all the wrappers, but instead of profound quotes about life and love, they now feel like fortune cookies that you’re supposed to end with “...so have another chocolate!”
Peppermint bark is generally delicious, but a word of caution for the adorable tins of it from Trader Joe’s: they come in stacked solid block slabs and you (or your giftees) will literally need a hammer to break it into bite sized shards.
My neighbors bring me a tin every year and it’s hard not to smile, knowing that our block must be full of a sort of monkey-wants-to-break-into-the-coconut puzzle at the holidays 😂
