Trader Joe's is an amazing place to get cut flowers 💐
Beautiful reasonably priced bouquets, but also lots of single variety flower bunches to augment your selection or to make your own creation.
In the spring they even have branches of forsythia and pussy willow for forcing indoors and they carry pumpkins in the fall and wreaths and garlands in the winter.
(You can reportedly touch base with them in advance of an event and they may be able to add your preferred selections to their bulk order.)
They also frequently have living plants, especially seasonal selections: tiny Christmas trees; tulips, daffodils, and muscari in giftable containers; calla lilies and flowering jasmine; but also orchids and succulents 🪴
Update: Now that I’ve been Gardening and thinking about native plants and supporting pollinators (as well as hearing pretty depressing things about the global flower trade), I have a newfound appreciation for local flower farmers. While TJ’s is still my go-to for a quick gesture or hostess gift, I also encourage you to 1. find out what locally sourced options are available 2. check if your local CSA has a flower option (for a steady stream of local seasonal bouquets). 3. consider growing your own flowers!
Floret Farmer-Florist Collective

I also have friends in MN who run a weekend “you-pick” operation at their flower farm and I’ve seen how much fun people have making their own bouquet (the price varies based on whether you fill a regular or a wide-mouth mason jar). Obviously that’s more of an adventure than stopping by the grocery store on your way home from work, but worth mentioning while we’re here talking about flowers. 💐
