My family swears by Cerama Bryte for cleaning our modern electric stovetops. First you wipe them down, then use the razor blade tool to scrape off any burnt residue, then use a dollop of the cooktop cleaner and rub it around with the scouring pad.
I don’t have a lot of experience using other methods, but I did move into a house a few years ago that had a cooktop that didn’t look its best (despite having a fancy realtor), and I was able to make it look great again (not perfect, but much better).
