Plastic bins

When storing things, whether it's in a garage or a basement or off-site, I recommend using clear water/critter-proof bins that stack easily.

I typically label them on a couple sides; you can do this with painters' tape and a sharpie, or you can tape pieces of printer paper on the inside of the box.

They actually make post-it notes that are sticky all over and those work great too, and can look a little more polished:

I default to these 66qt Sterilite bins, and I use these studier air-tight ones for special items.
