Aussie bites (Costco)

Aussie Bites are made by Costco—they are basically loaded oatmeal cookies full of seeds and dried fruits, but shaped like tiny dense muffins.

If you buy them in-store or via same-day delivery (powered by instacart) they come without extra packaging. If you order them with Costco 2-day, they’ll be individually wrapped. The flavor is better on the former, but not as convenient for taking on the go. Both have >3 month shelf-life, so you can stock up.

Sturdy enough that you could make a pyramid of them at an event, but if you throw a pre-packaged one in your backpack, there’s a fair chance that it will become crumbly.

Heating them for ~15 seconds in the microwave — which I recommend — also causes some sort of structural integrity issue, so you’ll want a small plate to be sure you get all the crumbs. I usually eat them with a milky black tea (🇮🇳Vanilla Chai Tea) for breakfast.

They have rolled oats, so they’re not 🍱Perfect Health Diet compliant, but they are organic. For years I had them in the “savory snack” section of the website, but my most recent batch were unwrapped and the oatmeal cookie comparison was truly undeniable, so I made the switch. They’re still not quite candy or cookies and they feel considerably healthier than the also delicious Costco brownie bites. 🤷‍♀️

Note: I had a friend who complained about the chia or flax seeds he’d find in his teeth afterward, but I don’t think that was actually a deterrent. 🙃

You can also get them at Walmart or Amazon, but with a considerable markup (maybe $12 at Costco vs. $20+ elsewhere). If you have the login for a membership account, Costco offers free shipping if you hit $75 in their two-day delivery section; see my Costco shopping list for other recommendations.)
