You use your sink all the time for all sorts of things. It’s not a very expensive replacement, and, depending on your starting place, it can be a huge upgrade.
The thing I use the most is the sprayer. Mine does two great things:
- It has a button to convert to a high-pressure spray.
- The head pulls down to be able to maneuver around.
This makes it simple to quickly clean and rinse bulky items or items with lots of nooks and crannies, and it also makes it much easier to clean the sink itself.
Depending on your situation, you might also want to splurge on a faucet that turns on and off by touch. This can be great when you’re handling messy or germy things during food prep (you can just bump it with your clean forearm), and if you share your kitchen it can reduce the spread of illness by eliminating a commonly used hard surface that everyone has to touch.
Update: 🐕 🛁 if you have a dog that fits reasonably well in the sink basin (maybe <30lbs?), a pull down faucet also lets you bathe the dog while standing comfortably at counter height. I found that the sprayer wasn’t necessary—you just need to be able to get the water all around the dog for getting wet and then rinsing, but the regular flow is fine and is probably calmer and less of a splash zone hazard than a showerhead. (Bonus if you have a buddy to man the faucet while you fluff the fur under the running water.)
