I’m looking for something pretty specific in slippers:
- I like curling up on the couch and I like tucking my feet under me when I’m working, so hard soles are out.
- I hate when tile or hardwood floors chill the bottom of my feet, so I need more insulation between my feet and the floor than e.g. wool socks or traditional slipper socks.
- My feet can get fatigued, so, bonus if there’s some support.
The new double-thick-soled Bombas slippers are wonderful. Sort of like walking on a memory foam bath mat, and so snug and warm!
They’re like the perfect marriage between slipper socks and regular slippers.
Another great thing is that they pack flat and light, so they’re easy to slip into my carryon for travel. They even come with a drawstring sack for transport and storage.
I don’t live in a shoes-off household, but I could see them being a good option to have on-hand for guests.
I’m not in a demographic that’s concerned with slips and falls (in fact, I generally prefer being able to get up some speed and slide when the mood strikes), but it’s worth noting that they also have a zillion grippy dots on the bottom that should help with stability and durability.
