Alex is an organized productivity beast (and also a sharing, caring human)
I love Becca's family portraits. She lives in Pennsylvania, so I've never been able to easily send anyone to her, but maybe she travels? Or maybe you travel? Or maybe you’re in Pennsylvania??
Nevin's first minimal techno set:
Helen is quite possibly the highest quality human I know, though I am perhaps slightly biased.
She has graciously granted me permission me to publish a truly fantastic series of emails that she wrote during an adventure in India in the fall of 2002 (this is the closest I could get to a photo of her from that era).
(I began releasing them serially, beginning at the 20th anniversary of her trip in Sept 2022)
Spencer generates lots of interesting content about why people do what they do and think what they think.
Here's a list he made of 10 repeated pieces of advice from highly successful people.
He includes this at the bottom of each post:
If you enjoyed reading this, but we're not Facebook friends, feel free to follow my writing by clicking "follow" here: http://bit.ly/2Pjilq8
Or you can find 100+ more pieces I've written at:
And he also runs this website & has a new podcast:
And he made this "Burning Man Packing List" which feels like a very similar thing to what I'm doing here.
Donny is a comedian who has an amazing comedy troupe that had a show on TBS — I run into his stuff on fb, but maybe they're on Twitch these days?
"Cute House" is a pretty solid intro.
(pretty sure that's his PE shirt from our high school 😂)
Tom is an entrepreneur and is unbelievably inventive and open about his ideas and discoveries and feelings and journey through life:
Allan is a dirigibles expert at the Smithsonian. His facebook feed sparks so much joy for me. He's maybe the least pretentious artist I've ever encountered (mostly manipulated photos of my favorite town of all time and sticking his own face where it doesn't belong) and he and his fb friends’ commentary are fabulously witty in a way that makes fb seem like actually a really good thing. (I "followed" him on my dad's fb account and I love it when I run across their banter.)
Update: technological advances have improved the situation further: Allan makes the best AI altered images I’ve seen. Funny and brilliant.
Duncan often has things to say about what's happening with people in his communities or in society that seem right to me and aren't pointed out as often as I would want, and it seems like he's doing it in a proactive trying-to-fix-it way. (He also has an impressive way of writing prosocial conciliatory dialogue that often feels out of reach until he writes it.)
I also like that he's so excited about teaching.
Logan: self-described rationality researcher, developer, and writer. I mostly get exposure through my facebook feed, but I think the tips and tricks for people on the spectrum might be useful to follow directly on their blog.
Update: they/he recently had a baby and was gracious enough to chronicle the birthing process and share it publicly.
Logan is also a bit of a super-taster in the domain of chocolate and has shared a nice set of recommendations.
Artists (all coincidentally(?) friends from the Waldorf elementary school in my hometown)
Evan is an incredible (mostly black and white) landscape photographer who works as the curator of the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite National Park (where he's been since 2006(!)).
Emi is an artist who has been working on human skin for many years, but she’s recently started doing prints that are gorgeous.
